Q&A

What kind of camera do you use?

I use a Panasonic Lumix GF2, a micro four-thirds camera. We purchased it in May 2011 so we could document our honeymoon travels in Germany. It is, without a doubt, one of the best investments we’ve made. The pictures are as good as a DSLR, but because our camera is more compact, we are able to take it everywhere without thinking twice about it. It even fits in my tiny purse! We are currently saving up for the 20mm lens.
*Note – Our version of the Lumix (GF2) is no longer available because they are now making a newer version (GF3).  Same great camera!

Where do you live?

I live in Cincinnati with my husband and two cats. We love our city…mid-sized is the way to go! We have all we need – a growing downtown, thriving arts organizations, a major league baseball team, universities and plenty of history – all with an affordable price tag. If you haven’t been to Cincinnati, you should make the trip. And let me know when you do so I can tell you where to go and what to do!

Have you always lived in Cincinnati?

No. My husband and I were both born and raised in small town Ohio and we’ve lived in some pretty cool places between then and now. Before Cincinnati we were living in New Orleans and before New Orleans we were living in Cincinnati.  That’s right – we boomeranged! And before that I was living in DC where I moved after finishing college in Columbus, Ohio. To make it more confusing, while I was in DC, Phil was in Berkeley, CA! East coast, west coast, south and midwest – we have seen and loved it all! Each place is unique and we’ve been lucky to experience so much, but we recently decided to put down some roots and Cincinnati it was.

What do you do when you’re not blogging?

I have way too many hobbies. Usually I am deciding which hobby will get my attention at that particular moment – knitting, reading, yoga, running, crafting or cooking. Of course I also enjoy having great conversations with friends, listening to Phil play the guitar or visiting my family just a few hours away. I am also a member of the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus, which takes up a fair amount of my time, but I’m happy to be keeping my voice in shape and using all those years of training.

What is your favorite yarn?

I find myself always coming back to Malabrigo worsted weight yarn. It’s a classic. For baby knits, I prefer Berroco Comfort.

What are your cats’ names?

Ramona and Pantalaimon. Ramona was my choice and comes from the childrens’ books by Beverly Clearly – “Beezus and Ramona“. Pantalaimon was Phil’s choice and comes from the Philip Pullman series “His Dark Materials” (you’ve probably heard of “The Golden Compass“?).
