Labor Day weekend we ventured over to Pittsburgh for a dear friend’s wedding and in addition to celebrating, we did a little exploring! The Duquesne Incline came highly recommended so we arrived early, paid our $2.50, and had the view to ourselves. Very cool that something like this is still operating.
Next up was The Strip, a hip urban neighborhood that transforms into a market atmosphere on weekend mornings. We wandered aimlessly through the stands and eventually wound up at this brand new urban grocery store that also happened to serve the most amazing breakfast. And the new owner’s parents, with whom we had a lovely chat, are originally from Cincinnati! Connections everywhere.
On our final day we spent several hours enjoying the birds at the National Aviary – one of only 2 in the country. Phil was brave enough to feed the birds (that’s a worm in his hand!), while I posed with the flamingos!
