This weekend was full of good times thanks to a visit from my sister and brother-in-law. They rolled in late Friday night from Atlanta and we set to work on a list of places to go and sights to see. But of course, like it does every time we have visitors, it rained – no, POURED – on Saturday. But we made the best of it by eating king cake and po-boys, playing card games and enjoying each other’s company.
The weather was beautiful on Sunday and we took full advantage by seeing the sights and sounds of Mardi Gras via bicycles.
It started with breakfast at Cake Cafe.
Then some shopping in the French Quarter
And a visit to the Louisiana Loom Works to pet the cats and see the beautiful works of art.
Followed by parades and more than our fair share of beads! Luckily my sister has a good use for all of the beads we caught – a prize basket for her kids at school. I hope they appreciate how heavy those were to carry around all afternoon!
All in all it was a wonderfully exhausting weekend. I can’t wait until we live closer to these two. We always have such a good time with each other and I miss them the second they drive away. Until our next visit…
